Minimum system requirements
Windows based PC with:
- 800 x 600 screen resolution - 1024 x 768 or higher preferred
- 64K (65,536) colours
- Soundcard (for some elements)

- JavaScript - It is desirable to have JavaScript enabled in the web browser

Internet Explorer

- Select "Tools->Internet Options" from the menu.
- Select the "Security" tab.
- Select the "Internet" zone.
- Click on the "Custom level…" button.
- Scroll down to the "Scripting" section and under "Active scripting" select the "Enable"
radio button.
- Click on "OK".
- If a message asking if you want to change the settings for this zone appears, click
on "Yes".
- Click on "OK" again.

- Select "Tools-> Options…" from the menu.
- Click on the "Content" tab.
- Check the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox.
- Click on "OK".

Either:
- Select "Tools->Preferences…" from the menu.

- Select "Content" from the left hand list.

the "Enable JavaScript" menu option has a tick by it.

Oxford Economics UK Model
The Oxford Economics UK Model is provided in two formats. If you are using Internet Explorer and have ActiveX enabled you will presented with the version that has a user-friendly interface. If you are using other browsers or do not have ActiveX enabled, the model will be provided as a spreadsheet.
Oxford Economics UK Model - for Internet Explorer Users
This uses an ActiveX control that requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or above. Excel
2000 or above is also required. The first time you access the Oxford Economics UK Model
you may need to install certain software if you do not already have it on your computer.
The details below explain what's required -depending on your browser the text in the messages may vary from the description below.
Accessing it for the first time:
- Click on Oxford Economics UK Model from Models and Forecasting on the Contents menu.
- The following advice "This site might require the following ActiveX control: 'Model.CAB' from 'Cotoco ltd'. Click here to install." or something similar may be displayed in the Information Bar just above the HSBC logo.
- Click anywhere in the Information Bar. The following menu will be displayed.
- Click on Run Add-on.
- A dialog box similar to the one below may be displayed, asking you if you want to install HSBC - Oxford Economics UK Model from Cotoco ltd.
- Click on Install.
- The Oxford Economics Business Model will open.

Troubleshooting
The Oxford Economics UK Model (both version) does not work well with some combinations of Excel 2000 and Windows XP.
